Post Rapture Six Sentence Sunday

In honor of the rapture, this week's selection is from my post apocalyptic story B Cubed. Book 2: Bred. Hope you are around to read it!;-)
Rothguard looked over his shoulder, just in time to see another of the riders dismount and draw a wicked looking blade. Isaac opened his mouth but the man slit his throat before he could even beg for his life. Blood sprayed as his friend fell forward, his clothing licked by the hungry flames. Rothguard struggled, but the guard knocked him over the head. Tears pricking behind his eyes as he thought of Isacc’s Only One who waited for her mate’s return. Would they even tell her what happened here or would she be forced to go on, wondering why he had abandoned her?
