Zan: The Ultimate Heartbreaker

So what defines a heartbreaker? And is having a heartbreaker as a hero a good thing? I sure think so. After all, a hero who breaks your heart has to touch it in order to do any damage No one gets all hot and bothered over a character we are indifferent about, do they?

I knew from the second he popped into my head that Zan the immortal space pirate was going to be a heatbreaker. But more than that, his situation is actually heartbreaking.

You see, Zan never asked to be made immortal. His tyrant father, Xander, forced it on him because Xander wanted a companion to accompany him through his endless days. After growing up in a brutal society where men are forced to rape  and or kill each other to prove better their situations, Zan was already jaded, but immortality added a new quirk.

Every reward comes with a price and the cost of immortality is having one's DNA altered to contain memories of everyone wh has bathed in the waters of the Infinity Pool. Every cell now carries the memories, including the location of the magic pool and can be transferred the same way a virus spreads. From direct contact.

Like through sex.

And because the paranoid and merciless Xander can't have any old person acquiring the knowledge of his immortal life, he kills his lovers when he's done with them. And Zan's as well.

What would it be like to know that every time you shared your body with another person, you were putting their life on the line? That if anyone found out, your love would die, simply for loving you back. In a word, heartbreaking.

So that's Zan's backstory. You can read more about him in No Mercy, now available from your favorite bookstore and online.

On another world, in another time, passion conquers all. . .

Insatiable Need

Gia has no interest in settling down with one man for the rest of her life. She simply wants sex, hard and fast, with no strings attached. But on a planet of empaths, finding a man who can satisfy her urgent need seems impossible. . .until Zan appears. A space pirate too handsome for his own good, he offers the carnal pleasure she craves and danger she can't deny. . .
In a moment of pure ecstasy, Gia's health guard malfunctions, allowing Zan's memories to become hers. Exposed to a secret Zan has long guarded, Gia suddenly finds herself on the run with a man she doesn't trust. But together they discover the red-hot passion they share is their only protection from the dark powers hunting them. . .

A sexy space pirate, a bold stinger pilot heroine, with the fate of the galaxy hanging in the balance makes for a non-stop thrill ride and an epic love story you won't soon forget. ~Saranna DeWylde, Award Winning Author of the 10 Days Series

  1. I think one whose situation break my heart. I don't like my men to break my heart!!

  2. Yes ,let the situation to be heart-breaking!
    Thanks so much for participation!

  3. For me the heartbreaker is a bad boy who goes kicking and screaming into love! When he falls he falls hard!

The only heartbreakers I have encountered are literary! And my all time fav is Mr Darcy! Although, I am currently crushing on Zadist from the Black Dagger Brotherhood!

Heartbreaking is good in a book, means something when a book makes me cry!

  4. I think it would have to be the situation like others have picked - don't think I could do the other kind

  5. I prefer the heartbreaker whose situation breaks my heart. Those are the ones with redeeming qualities, I think. You hate what they do, but in the end, you really hope they find happiness... preferably after they get their just desserts. lol

  6. I love reading about heartbreakers! They are usually bad-boys, they’re witty, funny and sexy and the female population is drooling after them lol

  12. I would rather read about a heartbreaker who has a change of heart at the end because that makes a great romance!
    Thanks for the chance!

  13. We all want to love a Heartbreaker. Maybe its because of his chiseled good looks, his bad boy attitude, or the mysterious nature of him. Some Heartbreakers are just that, they know what they got and how to use it to get what they want. Then there are those Heartbreakers that don’t even realize that they are doing it. The best part about a Heartbreaker is that there is always a woman that turns their world upside down until they realize it is love. I have read many Romance Novels over the years and have run into many memorable Heartbreakers and my favorites are usually the ones that don’t even know they are Heartbreakers! Some of my personal favorite Heartbreakers are :

Kade Jamenson (Werewolf) from An Alpha’s Path. Kade is a sexy werewolf that will make you burn but a mishap with a potential mate makes him not think he will find love.

Ian MacPhie (Vampire) from All I Want For Christmas is a Vampire. Ian is a heartbreaking Highland Vampire that was frozen in his immortality when he was only 15. With the help of his friend he is given a drug that helps him age to 28 so he could look like a man instead of a child after hundreds of years. He has no idea that he looks of a warrior and the lover.

Lothaire Daciano (Vampire) from Lothaire. Lothaire is definitely a heartbreaker and his cocky attitude proves it! Thinks he’s a gift to women! Its just the sucker punch from a woman he doesn’t realize is his equal that brings him down a notch.

Marius Parker from His Contrary Bride. Marius is every part the gentlemen but doesn’t realize he could also easily be the rogue!

Benjamin Gateway from To Win His Wayward Wife. Benjamin doesn’t realize that he is a heartbreaker because the one woman he loved, he lost….or did he?

Fury North (Human with Canine DNA) from Fury and Valiant North (Human with Feline DNA) from Valiant. Fury and Valiant are strong New Species and gorgeous to boot, but because they are damaged they doesn’t think they can hold onto to the women they love.

Sigimor Cameron from Highland Conqueror. Sigimor is every bit the Highland Laird and warrior but can he hold onto to the beautiful English lady?

Joshua Striker (Werewolf) from Alexandra’s Legacy. Joshua is a scared and battle hard enforcer for his pack and he thinks that he doesn’t have what it takes to make the women melt.

  14. My favorite Heartbreaker is the one that your heart can’t live without. One of my best is Lucas from D B Reynolds book “LUCAS” (Vampire in America series). Strong mind, well put together and tender when he wants to be. And loves horses.

    Judy Peterson

  15. One of my favorites is Justice from Justice by Laurann Dohner. Thank you for the awesome hop and giveaway!!! :)

  16. The situation, definitely. That way I can believe he didn't want it that way.

Loved B Cubed btw and I have No Mercy and Bred on my To Buy list.

  17. My favorite part of having a heart breaker is the world class groveling. Todd in Lauren Dane's Laid Bare is my perfect example.

  18. I like when they break your heart due to a situation because it isn't something they can control sometimes they say hurtful things that you read and your like whattt did he say lol... Thanks for being part of the hop.

  19. Oh wow, that's quite the question. If his actions break your heart then it's something that didn't have to be, he just did it if its the situation then it was not under his control, therefore, more heart breaking in my mind.
Thank you for the chance today,

  20. I would pick the one who breaks my heart. Thanks for the giveaway.

  21. I don't know that I've met a heart breaker, but I've read about quite a few. My current favorites are both Lauren Dane characters. One is Shane from Fated and the other Todd from Laid Bare. I think the redeeming thing about them is that when they realize how wrong they are they are quite good at communicating their understanding and groveling.

  22. Charlie Hunnam from SOA...true heartthrob.

  23. I would rather read about a her whose situation breaks my heart more so than his actions. I want his twisted upbringing or past relationships to make him the way he is versus what he does. I want him to be a little confused and out of his element when he does find true love. Thanks for taking part in the hop and the chance to win the awesome hat. Love it! sbereza22(at)gmail(dot)com
